Jim Lussier elected Chair of the City of Orlando’s Public Arts Advisory Board

July 12, 2016 – Shareholder Jim Lussier has been elected to serve a one year term as the Chair of the City of Orlando’s Public Arts Advisory Board. He now leads this Board of citizen-volunteers who are charged with the responsibility to review pubic art acquisitions for the City and make recommendations to the City Council. This election follows two years’ service on the PAAB, and dovetails with his fourteen years (and counting) as a member of the Board of the Downtown Arts District, including one year as Chair. Jim offers the following quote from the City of Miami’s Art in Public Places report as indicative of the role of public art in Orlando:

The impact of public art within a community is priceless, immeasurable, and once experienced, it only appreciates. Pubic art has the power to energize our public spaces, stimulate our minds, and transform the places where we live, work, and play into welcoming and beautiful environments that invite interaction. Public art can make strangers talk, children ask questions, and calm a hurried life. It enhances the quality of life by encouraging a heightened sense of place and by introducing people to works of art.
